Statement

In 1977, after living in both San Francisco and Los Angeles, my husband and I moved to Cayucos for his work in San Luis Obispo. We learned about farming, ranching, raised our family, set up a clay studio, and developed true neighbors.

Ceramics was always my mainstay, with the later addition of watercolor. I used, and continue to use, my photography to capture ideas for future art pieces.

In 2011. My friends reintroduced me to Printmaking and the endless playful possibilities. I am totally hooked! Printmaking allows me to experience both the 2- and 3-dimensional in the building process. Pulling the print off the block is the wonder and excitement akin to opening the kiln door after a glaze fire. My first subject “Cone Nose,” based on a 1976 drawing, became a cathartic journal spanning 8 years. Today, I go back and forth between abstract and representational imagery. I love the pop of black and white, and then again, I love lots of color. I try to bring all that together in vibrant imagery for a visual feast.

Today…

I work out of my studio on the ranch and show my art at the “Pocket Gallery on Pine” in Paso Robles. My family and I continue to operate Cottontail Creek Ranch. We grow organic avocados and oranges, raise cattle for grass fed beef and run a vacation rental for people to enjoy the wide-open spaces we have committed to protect and preserve.
